3 week study Plan to scale up your preparation for JEE Advanced 2020

Warren Buffet once asked Bill Gates if you have to recruit students from one University in the world which one would be that, Bill Gates replied immediately it would be IIT. Narayana Murthy said he want- ed his son to do B Tech from IIT but he had to send him to Cornell because he could not clear JEE. So high is the reputation and prestige of becoming an IITian. So I would like to congratulate all students who have cleared JEE Mains.
Before we get into the main article let me break the myth that JEE advanced is very difficult contrary to that we believe that Questions in JEE Advance are not difficult but they are just different and what they require is a different approach and a different mindset. What is important to solve these questions is how do you approach and attack them.
Given below are tips you should keep in mind so as to prepare for JEE Advance 2020.

Study schedule for JEE Advance 2020:

·         The first 15 days focus on revision and quality practice. It is advised that you should study at least 12 hours every day.

·         In the next 5 days give 5 mock tests followed by analysis and revision. Study around 9-10 hours every day.

·         The last 2 days are cool down days where you focus on relaxing your body little bit and last minute revision. Study 6-8 hours every day. Sleep at least 7-8 hours in the last 2 days.

Revision:

·         During revision focus strengthening weak areas and also on deep thinking and conceptual clar- ity

·         Study the trend of JEE Advanced of previous years.

·         Carefully study the syllabus of JEE Advanced 2020

·         Do not try to study new chapter. It is difficult to go deep in any new area in 15 days time.

Quality is more important than Quantity

·         Doing 1000 Quality questions in one subject is more important than solving 10000 questions
which have not been carefully selected.

·         Do not get trapped in hi fi questions or irrelevant questions.

·         Many times i have seen coaching’s giving questions which are beyond the scope of JEE Advance

·         Remember success in JEE it is not about running fact but it is about running in the right direction.

Sharpening your Problem solving skills for JEE Advance:

·         While you are mastering fundamentals you might face questions which take you hours still you may not be able to find the solution. It is OK and don’t think that your time is getting waste. All this time will help in sharpening your problem solving skills. In JEE Advance you have questions which involve multiple concepts and these problems what is important how you approach/attack a problem and this skill develops with time. So always remember the key to master the fundamentals is continuous interplay between theory and problem solving.

·         Try to correlate the learning’s of your subjects with the day to day life practical examples or in other words correlate your classroom learning with real life learning. This will help you in under- standing the fundamentals better. Whenever you study/learn a concept, try to go deep into the concept and try to understand the correlation of the concept with other concepts of the same subject for example the relation between a heat and light concept.

·         Theory should lead to questions that would lead to answers which would in turn lead to questions.

All subjects are equally important

·         Analysis shows that in JEE and other Engineering Entrance Examinations generally many Students could not be successful only because of their poor marks in Chemistry in spite of their very good performance in Physics and Maths. Even successful students could get lower rank in the merit list only because of poor marks in Chemistry. According to a survey, even intelligent students devote approx. 80% of their total time to Physics and Maths and only 20% to Chemistry. The above analysis is not given with the objective to divert the students from Phys- ics or Maths but to tell them to have a balanced study and utilize the same time to secure more marks and better rank.

·         Also remember that most of the examinations minimum qualifying marks are there for eachsubject so irrespective of what is your total score you have to get minimum marks in all the subjects to qualify. So never overdo anyone a subject at the cost of other

·         Also just imagine a scenario that the JEE Advance paper of your favourite subject in which you have spent maximum time comes very difficult and so everybody scores less whereas the subject in which you have not given sufficient time comes easy or average. In such scenario students who have focused equally on all subjects will have an advantage.

Previous year papers:

·         Attempt at least last 10 years papers of JEE Advance

·         It is advised that previous year papers of JEE Advance till 2017 can be attempted chapter while revising

·         Previous year papers of JEE The advance of 2018 and 2019 should be given in the form of test e simulating exam like condition.

Mock test

·         Attempt at least 5-6 Mock test of JEE Advance followed by deep post test analysis. Post analysis should highlight weak areas for revision and also help in finalizing the exam taking strategy.

·         Study at least 9 hours each day. In slots of 3 hours each. Schedule your daily schedule according to the actual JEE Advance 2020 examination. In the first 2 slots, you can appear in the mock test whereas the third slot can be used for post-test analysis/revision.

   Test-taking strategy

·         Decide the sequence in which you want to attempt the JEE Advance papers. Also decide th time for each section.

·         JEE Advance is a low scoring exam (50% marks can get you a good rank) so the focus in not on speed but on strike rate and selection.

·         It is advised that you should first attempt questions with one correct option

·         Remember the time has come to Give your 100% and achieve your Goals. Also keep in mind that suc- cess in any competitive exam is sum of Knowledge (you have acquired in last 10 months) + Strategy (how do you attempt a paper, combination of speed and strike rate and other aspects) + strong mental attitude to give your best. Let me explain this with the help of cricket: Even if you have a technically strong team, you need strategy (batting or balling first, who opens batting/balling, field placement, balling change) for every game and a mentally strong players who can score 20+ runs in the last over. Even the greatest players like Virat need strategy & strong mental attitude for every game).

Wishing you an outstanding success in exams and Life.
